7 ways to attract guest bloggers.

Any web writer will testify that guest bloggers can be an extremely valuable asset. As well as easing the burden on your own personal content creation, guest posts are also a great way to deliver your readers fresh content, attract inbound links, build SEO and win new followers. However attracting guest bloggers isn’t always as easy as it sounds. To help you find high quality contributors, we’ve put together these seven great tips that will have guest blogging inquiries flying through your inbox:

  1. Build SEO

In the same way that browsers use the web to research topics, guest bloggers will also trawl the net for opportunities. Make sure your blog is seen by boosting your SEO and peppering your site with relevant key words and phrases. For example, if your blog focusses on fashion, ‘guest blogging fashion’ and any associated keywords should be optimised wherever possible.

  1. Establish a dedicated guest blogging page

Any website owner that is serious about attracting high quality guest bloggers should have an entire page dedicated to the cause. As well as giving you a relevant platform to include SEO terms, it will also let guest bloggers know that you are genuine about publishing guest posts.

  1. Market your site

One of the most effective ways to attract guest bloggers is to sing your site’s praise wherever possible. You want to let potential content creators know why they should blog for your site, what makes you stand out from your competitors and what sort of publicity you can offer. Alexa rank, RSS subscribers and monthly reader stats should also be included.

  1. Emphasise previous guests

If you’ve published content from former guest bloggers, let the newbies know about it! Not only will this present an idea of what you’re looking for but it also establishes your site with a credible reputation.

  1. Keep communication lines open

When fishing for guest bloggers it’s important to make the contact process as easy and straightforward as possible. A personal email address is generally preferred over anonymous submission forms. You should also offer reassurance that all expressions of interest will be considered and replied to.

  1. Offer rewards

At the end of the day, guest bloggers are usually looking for publicity which means that offering link, bio boxes, images and contact details is a big draw card. Be sure to highlight what is on offer and make sure you deliver on your promises.

  1. Become a member of an online guest blogging community

If you’re looking for a steady stream of guest bloggers, joining an online community could be a clever move. The forums are an easy way to connect with bloggers specialising in a huge range of areas. Whether you actively search for contributors or wait for them to approach you, websites such as GuestCrew and MyBlogGuest are a great way to get the ball rolling.

Armed with these seven tips, you’ll be enjoying a steady stream of guest blogging inquiries in no time at all.

I can’t believe I haven’t thought about creating a specific page to make it easy for potential guest bloggers to get in touch with me! I feel so dumb! I just have a phrase on my contact page telling people to contact me if they want to become guest bloggers on my site.
